    Description

This is an ENGLISH ANTIQUE GEORGIAN 1846 STERLING SILVER VINAIGRETTE BOX.  It is marked with the proverbial row of English hallmarks including a lion (representing sterling silver), an anchor (representing Birmingham region), an "ES" in a cartouche (representing Edward Smith), and a date code of a fancy "X" (representing 1846).  It is a lovely box with a book-like motif and has a monogram.  It is an antique with wear, and tarnish commensurate with age and use and no attempt has been made to clean or polish it (see pics as they are a large part of the description).  Also, the round spring-loaded clasp ring (shown in the last pic) that is attached to the vinaigrette is difficult to open as there is no tab to rest a thumb on to slide it open (perhaps it is broken off).  Additionally, it is monogrammed.  Thanks for looking!
