MUSEUM QUALITY EXTREMELY RARE C.1857 VICTORIAN 15KT GOLD COMBINATION VESTA CASE / PILL BOX / MATCH STRIKER
I am selling this absolutely exquisite and Extremely Rare Early Victorian 15ct Solid Gold Combination Snuff Box / Match Striker crafted by the world renowned Victorian silversmith Thomas Johnson. Made of rich 15ct Gold and designer to be a Combination Snuff Box was crafted in 1857 making it 160 years old the scene depicts a design of the stunning hand chased foliage with a full set of five hallmarks on each half. I cannot emphasize more that this stunning item is in remarkable/immaculate condition. The decoration is absolutely stunning with it's deep hand chased flowers that are surrounded by scrolls and foliage in abundance to all sides except the side where the striker is placed. Normally the striker plate would be added after and crafted in another metal however this is so rare that it has been crafted in 15ct Gold part of the piece itself. To top of this stunning combination box has a cartouche that is surround by very ornate scrolls and foliage. To the centre you will see a wonderful family crest of an Arm holding a spear, this as you can see would have been crafted for not only a very wealthy Victorian Gentleman but also someone of importance. The top has a 15ct gold loop which would have hung from a gold watch chain, or necklace the hinge is in superb condition. The quality is just stunning as you would expect from such a rare and high quality piece, as you can see it appears to have a little indentation to the top and bottom, this is not a ding or dent but purely from where the hallmarks were struck. it is in stunning condition and a superb example of early Victorian craftsmanship, Truly 15ct gold at its best. My words and photos do not do it justice at all.
ABSOLUTELY PRISTINE CONDITION, EXTREMELY TIGHT CLOSURE, WILL PROBABLY BE VERY HARD TO FIND ANOTHER EXAMPLE IN THIS FINE OF CONDITION, FAIR BUT IT NOW OFFERS ARE ALWAYS ACCEPTED, THANK YOU FOR LOOKING AND GOOD FORTUNE IN YOUR BIDDING
