Wizart's Encaustic Medium is made using a classic formula of 8 parts purified beeswax to 1 part best quality damar crystals. The damar in this medium helps prevent blooming and maintain the hardness of the film. Our Encaustic medium is composed of 100% pure pharmaceutical grade beeswax,
Encaustic Medium can be used as a colorless paint film and may be used as a base or top coat.
Encaustic medium also acts as a binding medium for collages and altered art effects. You can use it (when melted) as a binder for pigments or as a medium you can mix with oil colors that adds transparency and when dried hard film.
This highly versatile medium can be polished to a high gloss, carved, scraped, layered, collaged, dipped, cast, modeled, sculpted, textured and combined with oil.
