    Description

    Barrel-form sterling silver novelty scent bottle with one side opening to reveal a foliate grill vinaigrette, the other side serving as a patch or pill box.  The piece was created by Sampson Mordan & Co. - a prolific English maker of silver novelties.  This particular piece has hallmarks for London and 1871 as well as the maker.  The barrel is 1.875" (4.8cm) wide.  It shows signs of wear commensurate with its age.
